Meet the Baxter Family:

James Baxter

SALVATION TESTIMONY & CALL:

   "I was saved during Take the Challenge week at Circle C Baptist Ranch at the age of 11. I had been doubting my salvation, but after that night, I knew the true peace that comes from being secure in His saving grace.

     After some missionaries from Africa stayed at our home, I felt God's calling to be a missionary in Africa, but I did not know where. My mother bought me a map of Africa, and we prayed over it daily. One day, God laid South Sudan on my heart.

     I have been on 2 trips over to the country. On both trips, God definitely confirmed my calling to the country. My first trip was a survey trip, just over a week. It went by so quickly. My second trip lasted 6 weeks, as I helped a missionary family move onto the field. 

   

     That second trip tested my call and showed me one of the biggest lessons I had to learn about missions work: 

    >> I used to think that missionaries stayed on the field because of their love for people. They don't. Missionionaries stay on the field because of their love for the Lord. <<

BACKGROUND:

     James grew up in Christian home. He and his 12 siblings were all homeschooled by their mother. He learned to work hard and live a charactered life by working under his father and grandfather in the family's towing company. The Baxters are very involved in the ministries of their home church. James worked on bus routes since he was a child, sang church specials, volunteered for VBS, participated in weekly soul winning, and preached in men's missions. 

      James decided to train for full-time ministry at Commonwealth Baptist College. While at college, he drove and repaired buses, became a bus captain, and taught an adult Sunday school class. James finished his degree December 2018, and marched with his graduating class in May 2019.

Abigail Baxter

SALVATION TESTIMONY:

   "I was saved on July 20th, 2010 at Circle C Baptist Ranch at the age of 14. That same week, I surrendered my life to full-time service. I did not know where God would take me or how He would use me, but I yielded to do His will--no 

matter what that was.

     It was difficult to imagine leaving my family and friends behind. However, my father always said he would rather have me '...halfway across the world in God's will, than across the street out of His will.'"

BACKGROUND:     

     Abby was privileged to grow up in a home with a Godly father and mother and 6 wonderful siblings. Growing up under the ministry of Pastor Jeff Fugate, her family was very involved in all the church's activities. Abby sang in the choir, worked in the nursery, went teen soul winning,  volunteered for VBS, worked on camp staff at Circle C for one summer, helped on bus routes since 7th grade, taught 5-6 year old Sunday school for 5 years, and taught 10-12 year old girls Sunday school for 2 1/2 years.

     Abby chose to train for full-time ministry at Commonwealth Baptist College. While at college, she met and fell in love with James Baxter. In May 2018, she graduated salutatorian of her class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. In June 2018, James and Abby were married. They welcomed their daughter Arminda Joy into their family March 20, 2019.
